I Love Love Day!!
So for Valentine’s Day I decided join in on a little Valentine’s Day swap being put on by these fabulous ladies.
My partner was Elizabeth from Sew Chatty and I would just like to say that I’ve actually been lucky enough to meet Elizabeth in person and she’s an absolute sweetheart. Besides that she’s got an absolutely adorable blog and shop and her crocheted hats are to die for. So I think you should go meet her…seriously…go meet her
So my littles disappeared with the handmade card, and I decimated the Dove chocolate before that could make it in the picture, but the piece de resistance is this amazing little clutch.
I absolutely LOVE it because there are so many times when I’m out with V & A and I just want my essentials – my keys, my phone, a credit card or a couple of bills. This not only has a place to stash my phone and a credit card, but has a little loop that makes it perfect for attaching to my key ring. I have every thing I need and don’t have to lug around a big ol’ purse. Another reason to check out her shop? She sells them. Seriously. Go check her out now.

What is something you’ll never do?
Real Motherhood
Is getting a cold (the worst cold ever) because you comforted a crying child who hacked all over you.
Is getting pink eye because you washed all the bedding, stuffed animals, your hands, and surfaces countless times but still snuggled with a kid having a bad day.
Is coughing up phlegm and wiping away snot and putting drops in eyes (including your own) and doing countless piles of laundry and scrubbing everything for the 423,569th time in the hopes that one person will escape.
Is falling into bed exhausted and sick but getting up every couple of hours to get your child a glass of water (he’s coughing) or rub a back (she’s bad dreaming).
Is thinking tomorrow will be better.
Is laughing because really, despite the snotty eye and wracking cough and sore throat and exhaustion maybe even because of them, life is so beautiful.
Friday Finds:: Quiet Stuff to Do
Sniffle, sniffle. Cough, cough. We’ve all been struck down with one bug or another this week so I thought I’d theme this Friday finds over quiet things to do. Whether you are trying to keep big(ger)s occupied while rocking a baby to sleep, or keep your little quiet while at church (or so you can lie on the couch nursing a sinus headache), here are some of my favorites:
I stole this super simple idea from my mom. She used to draw out a “doodle” (one big swirling line that ends up exactly where it started after going over itself a few times) and hand us a box of crayons. We’d fill each section with a different color. V will spend a good hour working on one of these.
We’ve definitely used a few of these ideas this week. My favorite is the storytelling game. We played a variation where I’d say, “I need something that starts with the letter __” and she’d find it and I’d build a story around it. Fun.
After finding this, I’ve been thinking of putting together a quiet book of our own. And because I don’t have enough pinterest boards, I’m definitely going to have make a board just for the plethora of adorable ideas out there!
I love this sorting game. I grabbed two sets of those pen cups (they were only $1/set) one in pink and green.
I found this idea here but on short notice I just used a deck of cards and called out a number. V and A both had half the deck and they had to see who came up with the number first.
So…what are some of the things you do to keep your children quietly occupied when you have things to get done or are feeling under the weather?
What Life Looks Like Right Now
I’m sick. Like with the worst cold I’ve ever had. I’ve been to the doctor twice hoping that this virus has turned into strep throat. Or at the very least I could convince some sweet doctor to give me codeine cough syrup. No luck. They are recommending salt walter gargles and a neti pot (or however you spell that thing). I figure if I’m going to resort to old timey home remedies to get relief – I’m going to resort to the good ones. The ones that involve Jameson. At 10:30 in the morning.

Cute, right? Think I might have to pick up a pair for little A. When I sent this picture to Mr. G his response was “they are green, so what?” So now I can’t decide if I’m the goof for loving them or not. Since I’m only going to get to put him in this stuff for so long…I kind of want to take advantage of it.
Worked on these this last weekend. I have a few more to finish up and get sent out. They’re going to be late. But that’s what happens when you get the worst cold EVER and no one will give you codeine cough syrup (and yes, I’ve been a big baby – I’m sure you’re surprised).
P.S. All these pictures are off my phone. I’m late to the party on this but WOW that phone camera takes some decent pictures – at least for someone who can’t take pictures.
